The first Sumo Wrestler from Katano, Ikioi, has had more wins than losses in the Grand Tournament Kyushu 2012

In the Grand Tournament Kyushu 2012, Shota Ikioi, who is the first sumo wrestler from Katano, has had 8 wins as a top-division wrestler (Makuuchi Rikishi) for the first time. To have more wins than losses in a grand tournament, wrestlers have to win at least 8 times out of 15 games. If having won 8 times, their ranks, which, from the top, consis of Yokozuna, Ozeki, Sekiwake, Komusubi, Makuuchi, Jyuryo, Makushita, Sandanme, Jyonidan, and Jyonokuchi, promote in the next Grand Tournament. Although Ikioi became a top-division wrestler twice so far, he was not able to have 8 wins and keep his rank in the top-division. However, his rank will rise in the first Grand Tournament Tokyo 2013 (Hatsu Basho) as he has had more than 8 wins in this tournament.
