The 38th Katano Cultural Festival<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Katano’s biggest cultural event will kick off from October 31st at Katano Seinen no Ie and Hoshi no Sato Iwafune. In the 38th Katano Cultural Festival, various cultural organisations in Katano show their works and performances. We can learn an aspect of a cultural city in the festival. Moreover, Katano International Friendship Association (KIFA) will open a coffee shop in which not only local residents but also foreigners can enjoy chatting. The coffee shop will open at Katano Seinen no Ie which is a 5-munite walk from Keihan Katanoshi Station.<\/p>\n

The Exhibition of Kuraji Ward in the Early Showa Period<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Katano City Museum of History and Folklore<\/a> is holding the Exhibition of Kuraji Ward in the Early Showa Period. The Kanazawa family which is one of great local families in the Kuraji Ward has donated their rare resources such as photos, letters, and documents to Katano Town Hall. In the exhibition, you can touch on the life of Kuraji in the early Showa period. It is held until November 2nd. Let’s visit the Katano City Museum.<\/p>\n

Two Big Summer Festivals will be Held in Katano<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Katano<\/p>\n

The hottest and the most enjoyable summer festivals come to Katano. Ama no Gawa Tanabata Hoshi Matsuri<\/strong> will be held on July 26th and 27th around Keihan Kisaichi Station<\/a>. In Tanabata Hoshi Matsuri, you will be able to experience a fantastic lantern night. Another festival named “Katano Shimin Matsuri<\/strong>” will be held on August 2nd and 3rd at Kisabe Koen Ground<\/a>. Various performers will show their performances and food stalls will offers Japanese vital Matsuri foods such as Ringo Ame (Candy-wrapped apple) and Yaki Tomorokoshi (Grilled corn).<\/p>\n

The annual festival at Hatamono Shrine<\/a> is held on July 6th and 7th. It is called “Tanabata Festival”. This is a festival for celebrating Hikoboshi and Orihime. In the festival, bamboo trees decorated with strips of papers welcome you. You also can write your dream on a strip of paper. Let’s enjoy the fantastic festival that you cannot experience in other areas.<\/p>\n

A Professional Sumo Wrestler, Ikioi, Yielded a Great Result in the May Tournament 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ikioi who is a professional Sumo wrestler from Katano has shown a brilliant performance in the May tournament 2014. In the tournament held from May 11th to 25th, Ikioi whose ranking was Nishi Maegashira 5 Maime (the 5th place of Maegashira West) made 11 wins and 4 losses. Consequently, he took home an award for fighting spirit. His ranking will be promoted to Maegashira 1 Maime (the 1st place of Maegashira).<\/p>\n

The 3rd Katano Charity Marathon held on April 20th 2014 <\/strong><\/p>\n

The 3rd Katano Charity Marathon<\/a> will be held on April 20th 2014. About 6000 runners run through Katano City in the charity marathon of this year. A part of a participation fee is donated to associations for the disable.<\/p>\n
