Until the Edo period, there was Kunai Genko Ji (temple) in the shrine. But, in the begining of the Meiji period, the temple was extinct.<\/p>\n<p>The Sumiyoshi Shrine enshrines <em>Sumiyoshi Yonshin<\/em>; <em>Uwatsutsuo no Mikoto<\/em>, <em>Nagatsutsuo no Mikoto<\/em>, <em>Sokotsutsuo no Mikoto<\/em>,\u00a0and <em>Jingu Kogo<\/em> (the Jingu Empress).<\/p>\n<p>The shrine hosts various Shinto events such as <em>Hatsumode<\/em> and <em>Katano Ebisu<\/em>.
