However, in 10th century, the Moribes&#8217; political power became weak with the rise of powerful temples. They built their temples in the Katano area without the Moribes&#8217; permissions. The Moribes, who was afraid of the loss of the political influence, donated their lands to <em><a title=\"Iwashimizu Hachimangu\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iwashimizu.or.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\">Iwashimizu Hachimangu<\/a><\/em> (the Iwashimizu shrine) in Kyoto and was given political legitimacy.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, people of Katano, as <em>Jinin<\/em> (assistants of the festival),\u00a0began to participate\u00a0in the Iwashimizu festival held in September 15th every year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2081\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovekatano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/\u68ee\u77f3\u6e05\u6c34\u796d.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2081\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2081\" alt=\"(c) Katano City Education Board\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lovekatano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/\u68ee\u77f3\u6e05\u6c34\u796d-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2081\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(c) Katano City Education Board<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This picture shows people\u00a0in the Mori area are heading to Iwashimizu Hachimangu for <em>Hojyoe<\/em> (the Iwashimizu annual festival).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Emperors and high-class Nobles frequently visited<em> Katano Gahara<\/em> for vacation and training through hunting. Some of them\u00a0connected<em> Ama no Gawa<\/em> (the Ama no River) with the tale of <em>Tanabata<\/em>\u00a0since its scenery was similar to the story. Since then, nobles, who\u00a0came to Katano on July 7th, were said to enjoy the event.<\/p>\n<p>In the<em> Heian<\/em> period, the <em>Higashi Koya Kaido<\/em> (the East <em>Koya<\/em> Rode) running from <em>Toji<\/em> in Kyoto to <em>Koyasan Kongobuji<\/em> in Wakayama was completed. The road was called &#8216;the rode for faith&#8217; and many monks used\u00a0it to go to Kyoto or Wakayama.\u00a0One of them, Kukai, is said to have trained his spirit at <a title=\"Shishikutsu Ji\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lovekatano.com\/?page_id=667\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Shishikutsu Ji<\/em> (the <em>Shishikutsu<\/em> Temple)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Yakushi Nyorai Zazo<\/em> in <em>Shishikutsu\u00a0Ji<\/em> and <em>Jyuichimen Kannon Ritsuzo<\/em> in <em>Shoden Ji\u00a0<\/em>were made in the end of the <em>Heian<\/em> period.
